PROVIDENCE – The New England Medical Innovation Center is accepting applications for a new program designed to help medtech startups create business and fundraising plans.
“Activate,” which is supported by R.I. Commerce Corp., allows participants to apply for between $21,000 and $37,000 in professional services, including understanding market size and competitive landscape, clinical needs assessment, intellectual property and regulatory pathways, and business and financing acumen.

Ideal candidates will be “technically viable and nearly investable Rhode Island-based regulated medtech or regulated digital health startups,” NEMIC said in a statement.
Selected startups will receive a customized plan prior to the start of the program. A date has not yet been set.
Eligible applicants must:
- Have a regulated medtech or regulated digital health product.
- Be located in Rhode Island.
- Commit to all milestones and activities in their program plan.
- Have a startup in the pre-seed stage, ready to raise a first round of capital.
