PROVIDENCE – Real estate disclosures, required of sellers, are designed to let prospective buyers know the known history of a property and potential pitfalls in a purchase.
Rhode Island legislators are proposing to add any history of marijuana cultivation to the list of written disclosures, which for several years have included the presence of lead paint, defects in the heating system and other items.
The proposal is sponsored in the Senate by Sen. Cynthia Coyne, D-Barrington, a former Rhode Island state trooper, and four other colleagues. It has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
