After 40 years in Nashville, Ind., Bear Wallow Books LLC has a new home.
The independent wholesale and publishing company, which has 40 cookbooks in its catalogue, had been run by Tom and Linda Wolfe for the past two decades. Their daughter Anne Wolfe was, until recently, co-owner of Small Point Café.
Wolfe, who always planned to inherit the business, said “the process was sped up” after the death of her father in May. In order to accomplish the transition, Wolfe’s husband bought her share of the café, allowing Wolfe to buy her mother out of the publishing company.
She filed with the state in August and began operating out of Providence last month, with a warehouse in Pawtucket.
While Bear Wallow Books will not offer retail sales with a traditional brick-and-mortar, its titles are available at national park and museum gift shops, farmers markets and antique shops.
Wolfe said she is interested in working with gift shop managers from the Ocean State.
