JOHNSTON – Mobile Beacon, a wireless-service provider that provides discounted internet access for schools and nonprofits, has appointed two new directors with a combined 50 years of experience in nonprofit operations.

Angelo Miccoli joins Mobile Beacon as the company’s director of operations and administration, overseeing the company’s operations, finances, customer service, human resources and IT functions. Miccoli’s 30 years of experience most recently include 16 years of service with United Way of Rhode Island, where he climbed from controller to director of internal operations and, ultimately, senior vice president of United Way 211.

“In today’s world, having a computer or laptop is not good enough; you also need to have reliable internet access,” said Miccoli in an Aug. 29 release announcing the new hires. “The mission of Mobile Beacon is to give nonprofits the tools they need to change the world. The sky’s the limit here. I’m excited to be joining the Mobile Beacon team and working toward this mission.”

Cristina Graham, appointed as Mobile Beacon’s new program director, comes to Rhode Island from her previous role as director of operations for the Cesar Chavez Foundation in California. In addition to overseeing operations, Graham also led the foundation’s education initiatives. In her new position with Mobile Beacon, Graham is responsible for the strategic planning and administration of all of Mobile Beacon’s service and grant programs.

“I was looking for an organization that I felt a calling for the mission and work that I cared about,” said Graham. “I feel like I found that here. It is great to be a part of something that is new and exciting and has endless possibilities.”

Katherine Messier, executive director of Mobile Beacon and recent recipient of PBN’s 40 Under 40 award, said she expects the passion Miccoli and Graham bring into their new positions to be as significant an asset as their experience.

“Angelo and Cristina join Mobile Beacon during a period of tremendous growth for our organization,” Messier said. “Together, we will deliver more services to the nonprofit sector and help these organizations better meet the needs of the millions of people and causes they serve every day.”

Mobile Beacon, headquartered in Johnston, provides high-speed mobile internet access at a low cost to nonprofits, schools, libraries and health care organizations. For more information, visit www.mobilebeacon.org.
