MIDDLETOWN – Systems Engineering Associates Corp. has announced the construction of an expansion to its production facilities – a new, 4,000-square-foot mezzanine level built inside its existing warehouse space.

The company said in a statement it is focusing more on manufacturing based on demand forecast for its original equipment manufacturer customer products and solutions that support the U.S. Navy.

The goal of the mezzanine’s construction was to meet this demand and have the new space within SEA Corp.’s existing footprint. New projects housed in the mezzanine area will be close to existing personnel, tools and technologies.

The company said the new production space is equipped for complete electrostatic discharge protection, is climate controlled and access controlled. The area could become a secured manufacturing area in the future.

For logistical purposes, a mezzanine-level garage door was installed so that pallets and other equipment can be safely hoisted to the new level. A lower-level garage door, additional parking area and driveway are planned.

SEA Corp. also said it developed new processes and associated procedures for production that are now integrated with existing International Standards Organization 9001:2015 procedures governing other company activities.

SEA Corp., which serves mainly government clients, has about 350 employees. It was founded in Newport in 1981.
