Newport Harbor’s top chef<br> gets national recognition

Casey Riley, who was promoted to corporate chef at the Newport Harbor Corp. last year, has been named 2006 Chef of the Year by Chef Magazine, an award that includes membership in the magazine’s 2007 editorial board and a $500 donation to a charity of Riley’s choice.

Newport Harbor is the parent company of the Castle Hill Inn & Resort, 22 Bowen’s Wine Bar & Grille, The Mooring, The Boat House, Blackstone Caterers and others. Riley works with each location’s executive chef to provide menus and ensure high standards.

“Casey has been an outstanding leader in our culinary operations since 2000, and he continues each day to raise the bar of excellence throughout our restaurants,” said Paul O’Reilly, president of Newport Harbor Corp.

Riley is donating the $500 to the Southside Community Land Trust, which provides land, education and resources for people in the Providence area to grow food in environmentally sustainable ways.
