WARWICK – Norwegian Airlines will expand its service from T.F. Green Airport with non-stop flights to Guadeloupe and Martinique, the R.I. Airport Corp. announced Wednesday morning.
The flights will begin in late October and both routes will make biweekly flights to and from T.F. Green.
“Last Wednesday we were here for the announcement of another new airline that will be flying from PVD”, said Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian in a statement. “A week later we are back to celebrate two more exciting additions provided by Norwegian Airlines. The new service to the French Caribbean, providing lower fares to the islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe, will undoubtedly help T. F. Green build momentum and position itself as a top competitor within the aviation industry. Again, these accomplishments are a direct reflection of the hardworking and dedicated team at the Rhode Island Airport Corporation.”
The RIAC announced the introduction of Frontier Airlines last week with flights to Denver and Orlando.
According to the release, both initial launch ticket prices are listed as $79. A cursory look at the Norwegian Airlines website shows that the cheapest non-stop tickets cost between $79 and $149 dollars depending on the day and destination of the flight. Return flights from each destination are more expensive than outgoing flights offered from T.F. Green.
“We are thrilled with Norwegian’s commitment to our airport and state. The airline recognizes the willingness of our community to partner and support their service. Our customers will have even more convenient nonstop options to Europe and the Caribbean. With the success of these markets, we expect more announcements to follow”, said Jonathan Savage, chair of the RIAC board of directors in a Wednesday press release.
Flights to Guadeloupe will depart from T.F. Green on Thursday and Sunday, with return trips on Friday and Monday. The first Norwegian Airlines flight to Guadeloupe out of T.F. Green will begin on October 29.
Flights to Martinique from T.F. Green will depart on Monday and Friday with return trips on Thursday and Sunday. The first Norwegian Airlines flight from T.F. Green to Martinique is on October 30.
Tickets are currently on sale at Norwegian Airlines’ website.
