
WESTERLY – The Ocean House was named the only Five Diamond hotel in Rhode Island by AAA Northeast Thursday.
The Ocean House has earned Five Diamond distinction since 2011. Only 121 hotels in North America were given the Five Diamond recognition in 2019 from more than 27,000 hotels considered.

Another 1,722 properties, or 6.3 percent of hotels surveyed, received the Four Diamond award.
“The Five and Four Diamond ratings are impressive accomplishments that recognize the upper echelon of hotels in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean,” stated Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast senior vice president of public and government affairs.
AAA said that it will honor the hotels in a luncheon ceremony in March at the Hotel Providence.
AAA also recognized 12 hotels in Rhode Island as Four Diamond hotels this year:

- The Chanler at Cliff Walk (first honored in 2004) – Newport
- Forty 1 North (first honored in 2017) – Newport
- Grace Vanderbilt (first honored in 2011) – Newport
- Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina (first honored in 2018) – Newport
- Hotel Providence (first honored in 2005) – Providence
- Hydrangea House Inn (first honored in 2005) – Newport
- Newport Marriott (first honored in 2017) – Newport
- Point Pleasant Inn & Resort (first honored in 2003) – Bristol
- Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel (first honored in 2008) – Providence
- The Weekapaug Inn (first honored in 2013) – Westerly
