The recent “Slades Bank Get Moving Walk” raised more than $143,000 in support of the Hudner Oncology Center at St. Anne’s Hospital.
The net total from this year’s walk-a-thon exceeds all previous years’ proceeds, bringing the event’s total contribution to the hospital to more than $650,000.
Title sponsor Slades Bank – a $609 million community bank based in Somerset – had the largest team, with 58 registered walkers.
Proceeds will help defray the cost of the Hudner Oncology Center’s radiation oncology technology. The technology features the area’s only intensity-modulated and high-dose rate radiation oncology capabilities, and targets certain cancers more precisely than conventional radiation.
