Pavilion Homes to replace former Roger Williams Housing Development in Lower South Providence

PROVIDENCE – The first phase of construction of two-family and single-family homes in Lower South Providence began in October, to be sold to homeowners who earn less than the median income in Rhode Island.
Pavilion Homes, an initiative of the Family Housing Development Corp. and Stop Wasting Abandoned Property, will be built on the site of the former Roger Williams Housing Development.
The first phase of the project will include five two-family homes and two single-family homes on Pavilion Avenue, Rugby Street and Byfield Street in Lower South Providence, according to a news release from the city of Providence.
The plans for the second phase tentatively include 30 to 40 new or rehabilitated homes that will be available for homeowners who earn less than 80 percent of the median household income.
House lots have been made available for development by the Providence Redevelopment Agency, with funding from federal sources provided by the city of Providence. Construction loans are available through Rhode Island Housing.
