The Best Places To Work competition recognizes companies – large and small – based on surveys of employees as well as management reports. Fifty winners were selected from four categories based on the number of Rhode Island employees.
In the small company category (Rhode Island employees numbering 15-49), Edward Jones Financial Advisors was named the winner.
Hinckley Allen & Snyder LLP earned the top prize in the mid-sized category (Rhode Island employees totaling 50-149).
In the large category (150-499 Rhode Island employees), Collette Vacations was honored as the best place to work.
Finally, in the enterprise category (a company with more than 500 Rhode Island employees), Amica Mutual Insurance Co. took home the top honors.
In addition to revealing the order of the winners at the event, PBN awarded four on-site massage sessions donated by Massage Envy. The four winning companies – Atrion Networking Corp., Banneker Industries, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP and ShapeUp – received the prize based on the enthusiasm and volume that they generated during a video shown at the event listing all of the companies that ran prior to the awards presentation.
Each company is eligible to a four-hour massage session for employees divided up at the company’s discretion.

Enrollment in the 2013 Best Places To Work competition increased 25 percent from 2012. The program is presented by Providence Business News based on the program created and conducted by the Best Companies Group.
The event’s presenting sponsor was UnitedHealthcare. Partner sponsors were Cox Business, Pawtucket Credit Union, USI Insurance Services and AM790.
