MIDDLETOWN – Amy Martel, executive vice president and chief operating officer of People’s Credit Union, was named chairperson of the Newport County Chamber of Commerce.

Martel, one of the top executives at the Middletown-based credit union, will help lead one of the state’s largest business advocacy organizations.

“Amy has a proven track record of leadership since joining the chamber’s board and as chief operating officer of People’s Credit Union,” said Erin Donovan-Boyle, executive director of the chamber, in a statement. “The breadth of knowledge and experience Amy brings will greatly impact the chamber and the greater Newport community as she guides our path forward.”

People’s is the fourth-largest credit union in Rhode Island based on assets, according to PBN research.
