Possibly another ‘60 days’ until Shooters site plans are submitted, says DEM

PROVIDENCE – While 60 percent of the design phase for the redevelopment of 25 India St. in Providence, the former Shooters nightclub property, has been completed according to a Friday statement from the R.I. Department of Environmental Management, the state has not yet submitted the plans for regulatory review.

In the Friday statement, R.I. DEM spokesperson Mike Healey said the department expects to do so within the “next 60 days.”

A November update to the development timeline said once 60 percent of the design process had been completed, the plans would be submitted for regulatory review to the Coastal Resources Management Council, R.I. DEM Water Resources, the Army Corps of Engineers and the R.I. State Building Code Commission.

Looking ahead, Healey said once the submitted plans are approved by the above cohort, they will be “finalized for public bidding.”

Lincoln-based Pare Corp.’s engineering department has been contracted to complete the design, which will include a fishing pier, marina and ferry dock.

Eat Drink RI LLC Owner and Founder David Dadekian was the sole entity to submit plans after the state announced a request for proposals regarding 25 India St. in 2015. The project, Eat Drink RI’s Central Market, would act as a public gathering place and provide Rhode Island food production companies additional retail space to expand their local footprint.
