PROVIDENCE – Sixteen nonprofit organizations focused on maintaining historical buildings across the state were awarded $125,000 in grants from Preserve Rhode Island to support their respective repair projects, Preserve Rhode Island announced Tuesday.
The organization says the grants – which ranged between $3,000 and $10,000 – were provided for exterior repair and restoration including painting, surface restoration, chimneys, roofs, windows, foundations and sills, masonry repointing, and installation of fire and security systems. Preserve Rhode Island is partnering with the 1772 Foundation to award the grants, it said.

- Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse, East Providence
- Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum, North Kingstown
- Glocester Heritage Society, Glocester
- Historic New England, Jamestown
- Historical Society of Smithfield, Smithfield
- Hope & Main, Warren
- Hopkinton Historical Association, Hopkinton
- Jamestown Historical Society, Jamestown
- Newport Historical Society, Newport
- Revive the Roots, Smithfield
- South County Art Association, South Kingstown
- Sojourner House, Providence
