PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices in Rhode Island remain unchanged from last week, showing continued stability, AAA Southern New England reported Monday.

According to Bloomberg News, the price of crude oil is up from last week, fluctuating at about $79 per barrel due to recent housing data.
“We had a housing number this morning that wasn’t as bad as some guys have been looking for, and that was somewhat bullish for equities, which dragged oil up” Rich Ilczyszyn, a senior market analyst with broker Lind-Waldock, told Bloomberg.
Oil for September delivery also rose, posting at $78.88 per barrel at 10:43 a.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange, compared with $77.93 per barrel last Monday.
AAA found prices in the Ocean State ranging from $2.58 to $2.98 for self-serve, unleaded regular. The state average is now equal to the national average of $2.74 per gallon.
