Providence a "Cool" city, Sierra Club says

The Sierra Club formally designated Providence as one of the nation’s “Cool Cities” at a news conference yesterday, next to the Bank of America Skating Center in downtown, according to Mayor David N. Cicilline’s office.

The Sierra Club’s national “Cool Cities” campaign showcases 180 cities in which mayors have shown leadership in efforts to reduce global warming, the city said.

Sierra Club representative Jennifer Tuttle was to be joined by Mayor David N. Cicilline and a representative from the Water Supply Board. Two Hybrid vehicles recently purchased by the Water Supply Board were also to be on display at the news conference, according to the mayor’s office.
