PROVIDENCE – “Sons of Providence,” a documentary produced by Providence College professors Jennifer Illuzzi and Arthur Urbano, will be screened locally on Aug. 21.

Illustrating the school’s effort to accept students of various faiths over its 101-year history, the documentary discusses the Catholic school’s Jewish population in the first half of the 20th century.

Included in the film are interviews with Jewish alumni, faculty and experts who are knowledgeable of the trend. The documentary concludes with an overview of the Second Vatican Council in 1965 and how that meeting impacted the church’s relationship with Judaism.
