The seventh Design Catalyst Program, meanwhile, will award established individual design businesses between $10,000 and $15,000 each, for a total of $150,000 collectively. Both pre-catalyst programs will also offer mentorship and professional development training.
Providence Mayor Jorge O. Elorza and DESIGNxRI executive director Ellie Brown announced the programming in early November.
“Since 2016, the Providence Design Catalyst program has brought the City’s world-class talent together with the tools and skills necessary to grow their businesses,” Elorza said in a statement. “And now, the Pre-Catalyst program will carve out space for budding entrepreneurs to take the next step in developing their business ideas into fruition.
“Together, these programs provide a seamless pathway from ideation to implementation,” he continued.
The programs are open to entrepreneurs who are seeking to sell an innovative product or service, have identified a solution for market problems, or are seeking personal growth.
Those interested can apply through the DESIGNxRI website through Dec. 12 for the Providence Pre-Catqalyst Program, and through Jan. 6 for the Design Catalyst Program.
