Providence man admits to role in bogus check conspiracy to defraud banks

PROVIDENCE – Edmilson Rodrigues, of Providence, has admitted to participating in a conspiracy to defraud banks in Rhode Island and Massachusetts of more than $100,000 by depositing bogus checks and quickly withdrawing the funds before banks discovered the checks were fraudulent, U.S. Attorney for the District of Rhode Island Aaron L. Weisman announced Feb. 4.
