PROVIDENCE – The Providence-Warwick-Fall River metropolitan area was among 239 out of 358 metro areas nationwide that added construction jobs over the year in February.
The Providence metro ranked 50th for its 9 percent construction growth in February, as construction jobs grew to 21,400 compared with 19,600 in February 2016, according to information released by the Associated General Contractors of America on Tuesday.

The Norwich-New London-Westerly, Conn.-R.I., metro ranked 172nd for its 3 percent job growth over the year, a 100-job gain, to 4,000 from 3,900.
Grand Forks, N.D.-Minn., added the highest percentage of jobs at 37 percent (1,000 more jobs), while Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario, Calif., added the most jobs at 9,000 jobs (a 10 percent increase).
Cleveland, Tenn., reported the largest percentage decline over the year at 21 percent, or a loss of 400 jobs, the association said.
