Independent Insurance Agents of Rhode Island Will Recognize Accomplishments of Two Provider Group Employees at Annual Awards Luncheon
Needham, MA. August 4, 2009, Provider Insurance Group, a Trusted Choice insurance agency with offices in Needham and Woonsocket, RI, announces that two agency staff members have been awarded by the Independent Insurance Agents (IIA) of Rhode Island for outstanding educational achievement. Sandra Almeida, Personal Lines Sales Manager, and Kristin Giardillo, Personal Lines Account Manager, will be honored at the IIA’s 27th Annual Education Recognition Awards Luncheon on Thursday, August 6.
Based at the agency’s Woonsocket, RI office, Almeida and Giardillo will receive award certificates at the luncheon in recognition of their educational accomplishments. Almeida, who earned the Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) award, will also receive a special education bonus. Giardillo is the recipient of the Don Fallon Award Scholarship.

Insurance agents in Massachusetts and Rhode Island are required to earn a specific number of CE credits every year to retain their licenses. Based on career goals, insurance agents at the Provider are also encouraged to pursue different professional designations to broaden their sphere of expertise.
Says Almeida: “Provider is very supportive of employees’ efforts to improve their professional skills. They pay for all our continuing education classes, in addition to the license retention courses we’re required to complete. It makes sense. Because the more knowledgeable we are, the more productive we are, too.”
Giardillo, a 21-year industry veteran who has spent the last nine years at Provider, is one class away from earning her Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) designation. To reach her goal, she’s been taking one class a month for nine months.
Almeida has been with the Provider for almost 30 years and holds a P&C license in her home state of Massachusetts, in addition to a non-resident P&C license in Rhode Island. She has taken many courses to further her insurance career. Among them are CIC classes, courses focused on sales, E&O and Flood, the full range of personal lines classes, and licensing classes for continuing education credits. The award Almeida is receiving for earning her CPIA designation is sponsored by the American Insurance Marketing and Sales Society (AIMS).
