PROVIDENCE – The Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau said that the New England Patriots’ two home playoff games are expected to generate $1 million in direct spending in the Providence area.
“The $1 million estimate is actually quite conservative,” said Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau President and CEO Martha Sheridan in a statement. “That number only includes contracted hotel room blocks and does not account for the many fans who will be choosing to stay in the Providence/Warwick area.”

According to the Rhode Island Sports Commission, a division of the PWCVB, both the Tennessee Titans and the Jacksonville Jaguars chose to stay in Providence Hotels, as did NFL executives, NFL Films and CBS Sports.
Earlier this month, the PWCVB touted January as an all-around strong month for direct spending related to sports events in and around Providence.
