R.I. gas prices up 1 cent this week, Mass. prices rise 6 cents

PROVIDENCE – Prices for self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island increased 1 cent this week to $2.58 per gallon, 2 cents above the national average, according to AAA Northeast Monday.

Prices ranged 31 cents from $2.39 to $2.70 per gallon. A year ago, prices were 37 cents lower at $2.21 per gallon.

Midgrade unleaded averaged $2.83 this week, ranging from $2.59 to $2.99 per gallon.

Premium unleaded averaged $3.00 this week, ranging from $2.68 to $3.19 per gallon.

Diesel fuel averaged $2.79 per gallon, ranging from $2.69 to $2.89 per gallon.

In Massachusetts, regular unleaded gasoline rose 6 cents this week to $2.53 per gallon, 3 cents below the national average. A year ago, prices were 41 cents lower at $2.12 per gallon.

Regular gasoline ranged 42 cents in the Bay State, from $2.37 to $2.79 per gallon.

Midgrade gasoline in Massachusetts averaged $2.75 this week, ranging from $2.42 to $2.99 per gallon.

Premium unleaded gasoline averaged $2.91 per gallon, ranging from $2.50 to $3.25 per gallon.

Diesel fuel in Massachusetts averaged $2.70 this week, ranging from $2.45 to $2.94 per gallon.
