PROVIDENCE – The price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island rose 2 cents this week to an average of $2.60 per gallon, 6 cents above the national average, according to AAA Northeast Monday.
Regular gas in the Ocean State ranged 31 cents from $2.39 to $2.70 per gallon. A year ago at this time, gasoline cost 42 cents lower in Rhode Island at $2.18 per gallon.
Midgrade unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island averaged $2.87 per gallon, ranging from $2.59 to $2.99 per gallon.
Premium unleaded averaged $3.03, ranging from $2.68 to $3.19 per gallon.
Diesel fuel in Rhode Island averaged $2.80 per gallon, ranging from $2.69 to $2.85 per gallon.
In Massachusetts, the price of self-serve, regular unleaded gas remained at $2.53 per gallon, 1 cent lower than the national average. One year prior, regular gasoline in the Bay State averaged 45 cents less at $2.08.
The price in Massachusetts for regular gas ranged 42 cents from $2.37 to $2.79 per gallon.
The average price of midgrade unleaded gasoline in Massachusetts averaged $2.75 this week, ranging from $2.55 to $2.99 per gallon.
Premium gas in the Bay State averaged $2.82 this week, ranging from $2.75 to $2.99 per gallon.
Diesel fuel averaged $2.70 this week in Massachusetts, ranging from $2.45 to $2.94.
