
PROVIDENCE- Self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline remained at $2.32 per gallon in Rhode Island this week, AAA Northeast reported Monday. Gas prices in the Ocean State are 2 cents lower than this time last year. AAA Northeast reported a price range in self-serve, regular unleaded of 27 cents, from $2.18 to $2.45 a gallon.
Rhode Island gas prices are 5 cents below the national average of $2.37 per gallon. The national average price for gas increased 2 cents this week and is 8 cents higher than this time last year.

In Massachusetts, self-serve, regular unleaded gas decreased 1 cent to $2.29 per gallon, a decrease of 3 cents year over year. Prices in Massachusetts ranged 40 cents, from $2.12 to $2.52 a gallon.
“With Memorial Day being the traditional start of the busy summer driving season, it’s good news for motorists that gas prices are actually down this week,” said Mary Maguire, director of public and legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast in a statement. “Analysts continue to monitor whether increased oil production in the U.S. will offset any production limits imposed by OPEC nations.”
