R.I. COVID-19 cases rise by 210 with no new deaths

WOONSOCKET – Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Rhode Island increased by 210, with no new deaths, the R.I. Department of Health said Thursday.

Hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients in the state total 39, a rise of one day to day. Of those hospitalized, five are in intensive care units and four are on a ventilator.

The department said there have been 126.5 new cases per 100,000 Rhode Island residents in the previous seven days, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention define as “high transmission.”

There have been 661,731 individuals fully vaccinated in the state, as well as a total of 1.34 million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered.

Confirmed cases have totaled 155,527 to date, a rise of 240 from figures reported Wednesday, accounting for the day-to-day increase as well as data revisions for previous days.

Deaths due to the virus in Rhode Island total 2,743 to date.

There were 7,156 tests processed Wednesday, with an overall positive rate of 2.9%. When excluding both repeat positive and repeat negative test result, the positive rate was 15.1%.

There have been 4.65 million tests administered in the state to 988,560 individuals.
