PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Foundation announced Monday that it has distributed more than $350,000 in grants to 48 Newport County-based nonprofit organizations through the nonprofit funder’s Newport County Fund.
The new funding for the organizations will support their various efforts, such as housing, summer youth programs, food pantries and behavioral health, the foundation said. The fund awards organizations grants up to $10,000, the foundation said, to help strengthen or expand established programs, as well as support policy or advocacy efforts based on community concerns, fund new projects, and leverage strategic collaborations and partnerships.
