PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island declined 1 cent this week to $2.48 per gallon, 12 cents below the national average of $2.60 per gallon and 33 cents lower than prices at this time last year.
Prices in the Ocean State ranged 35 cents from $2.35 to $2.70 per gallon.

- Midgrade gas averaged $2.79 this week, ranging from $2.64 to $2.95 per gallon.
- Premium gas averaged $2.96, ranging from $2.84 to $3.05 per gallon.
- Diesel fuel averaged $2.90 per gallon, ranging from $2.35 to $3.09 per gallon.
“Despite a jump in gasoline demand and a draw-down in gasoline stocks, the national average price dropped 4 cents this week, the largest one-week decrease since gas prices started to increase more than six weeks ago,” said Lloyd Albert, senior vice president of AAA public and government affairs, in a statement.
Gas prices in Massachusetts increased 1 cent this week to $2.50 per gallon, 10 cents lower than the national average and 30 cents lower than prices at this time last year.
Prices in the Bay State ranged 76 cents from $2.29 to $3.05 per gallon.
- Midgrade gas averaged $2.81, ranging from $2.55 to $3.09 per gallon.
