PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gas in Rhode Island increased 6 cents this week to $2.46 per gallon, 8 cents lower than the national average of $2.54 per gallon and 8 cents lower than prices at this time last year, according to AAA Northeast Monday.
“Since early February, gasoline demand has been steadily increasing while stocks have been gradually decreasing, which has boosted pump prices across the country,” stated Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast senior vice president of public and government affairs. “But the good news is that most motorists are not paying more at the pump than they were at this time last year.”
Prices ranged 39 cents from $2.30 to $2.69 per gallon.
- Midgrade gas averaged $2.67 per gallon, ranging from $2.45 to $2.89 per gallon
- Premium gas averaged $2.89 per gallon, ranging from $2.69 to $3.09 per gallon
- Diesel fuel averaged $3.06 per gallon this week, ranging from $2.85 to $3.19 per gallon
In Massachusetts, the average price of regular gas increased 5 cents to $2.44 per gallon, 10 cents lower than the national average and 4 cents lower than prices at this time last year.
The price of regular gas in Massachusetts ranged 81 cents this week, from $2.24 to $3.05 per gallon.
- Midgrade gas averaged $2.62 per gallon, ranging from $2.49 to $2.99 per gallon
- Premium gas averaged $2.87 per gallon, ranging from $2.69 to $3.29 per gallon
- Diesel fuel averaged $3.02 per gallon, ranging from $2.83 to $3.29 per gallon
