PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island will receive $1.7 million in federal grants from the Land and Water Conservation Fund for state-identified outdoor recreation and conservation projects, the U.S. Department of the Interior announced Wednesday.
The funds come from leasing revenue for oil and gas companies on the Outer Continental Shelf.
Rhode Island’s $1.7 million is part of $170.6 million in national matching grants distributed from the fund around the nation.
The grants are administered by the National Park Service.
