R.I. State Police train critical IT pros
in cybersecurity

SCITUATE – R.I. State Police hosted a cybersecurity-training session for critical infrastructure information technology professionals from Nov. 27-30, as part of its Joint Cyber Task Force objective of strengthening state and local agencies.

Thirty participants in 18 municipalities, two state agencies and two critical-infrastructure agencies took part in the training, said Capt. John Alfred, who leads the department.

Material included the various ways hackers work to compromise networks as well as how to find, contain, eradicate and recover from a malware outbreak or data breach.

The training was presented by the MIS Training Institute of Southborough, Mass.
