R.I. Medical Society names new officers

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Medical Society recently announced three new officers for the upcoming year and honored three doctors for their service to Rhode Island.

The following officers were elected:

  • Dr. Bradley Collins, of Lincoln, an internist and hospitalist practicing at the Miriam Hospital, is the new president of the organization.
  • Dr. Peter A. Hollmann, of Cranston, a geriatrician at University Medicine Foundation, will serve as the president-elect.
  • Dr. Norman Gordon, of Providence, a neurologist, will serve as vice president.
  • Catherine Cummings, of Providence, an emergency physician, was elected treasurer.
  • Dr. Christine Brousseau, of Cranston, an OB-GYN, was re-elected secretary.
  • Sarah Fessler, a family physician in East Providence, will serve as immediate past president.

All positions are for one year through September 2018.

The Medical Society also honored three individuals for their service to the Society and Rhode Islanders. The recipients and their awards included:

  • Dr. Jerry Fingerut received the Dr. Charles L. Hill Award for service and leadership.
  • Dr. Michael E. Migliori received the Dr. Herbert Rakatansky Award for professionalism and/or humanitarian service.
  • Dr. Kathleen A. Hittner received the Dr. John Clarke Award for exceptional contributions to civic leadership and service.

The Rhode Island Medical Society, founded in 1812 to promote the art and science of medicine, is the eighth-oldest state medical association in the country.
