Raimondo has significant fundraising lead in primary campaign finance filing

PROVIDENCE – Candidates for the Rhode Island gubernatorial race filed their 50-day before the primary reports Tuesday that include estimated campaign receipts and expenditures.

Gov. Gina M. Raimondo reported the highest estimated total for campaign receipts at $7.8 million, with $5.9 million of that total already raised and $1.9 million still expected to be raised. The governor has far outraised her opponents and plans to outspend them with that money as well. The Raimondo filing estimated expenditures of $7.8 million, with $1.6 million already incurred and $6.2 million expected to be spent.

Republican Alan W. Fung is estimated to have raised the second-most money of candidates in the race with an upcoming primary. His filing indicated expected total receipts of $868,080, with $596,623 reported and $271,458 still expected. Fung reported an expenditure estimation of $572,398, with reported expenses of $339,391 and expected expenditures of $233,007. Fung will be running against R.I. House Minority leader Patricia L. Morgan and Giovanni Feroce in the Republican gubernatorial primary.

Matt Brown had the third-highest estimated receipt total of primary candidates at $339,726, with $57,620 in hand and $282,106 to come. Brown reported expected campaign expenditures of $306,446, with $31,874 already incurred and $274,573 expected to come. Brown is running against Raimondo in the Democratic primary.

Morgan had the fourth-highest estimated receipts of the primary candidates at $292,692, with $234,579 reported and an expected $58,113 to come. Morgan filed estimated expenditures of $140,233, with a reported $50,233 in expenses and $90,000 to come.

Giovanni Feroce reported an expected receipt total of $19,215, with $500 reported and $18,715 expected. Feroce listed an expected expenditure of $5,418, all of which was estimated, as he is reported to have had no expenditures at the time of filing.
