Ranch built in 1950 and 13.5-acre lot sell for $2.1M in Charlestown

CHARLESTOWN – A five-bedroom home in the Arnolda neighborhood and 13.5 acres of land near Ninigret Pond were sold recently for $2.1 million, according to public records.

The single-family home located at 80 South Arnolda Road on a 1.65-acre lot was sold together with an adjoining 10.58-acre buildable lot and another 1-acre lot right on to the salt water pond across from the house. The 1-acre lot comes with its own private dock, according to a real estate listing published by Lila Delman Compass, which represented the seller.

The buyer was represented by Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty, according to the firm’s website.

The single-story, ranch-style home was constructed in 1950, according to city property records, and the home contains five bedrooms, two full bathrooms and one half-bathroom. The 3,254-square-foot home also comes with a 720-square-foot two-car garage. The home also includes a 200-square-foot wooden deck, a 200-square-foot enclosed porch and two fireplaces.

The home and the land were most recently valued by Charlestown assessors in 2021 as being worth $778,200, according to the town’s online property tax evaluation database.

The home was sold by John Van Slyke and Bona Van Slyke, and it was bought by Michael Recht and Ann Owen, who were residents of Charlestown.
