Rebecca Boss chosen to lead BHDDH

PROVIDENCE – Rebecca Boss was chosen to lead the state Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals, Gov. Gina M. Raimondo and Health and Human Services Secretary Anya Rader Wallack announced Wednesday.

Raimondo submitted Boss’ name to the State Senate for approval. Boss has served as acting director of the department for the past 10 months and as deputy director and administrator for 12 years.

“Becky has dedicated her career to serving the state’s most vulnerable citizens,” Raimondo said in a statement. “Her commitment, leadership and vision over the last 13 years have been instrumental in moving a diverse department forward to meet the needs of our residents in a constantly changing service environment. I am pleased to have a strong leader with her depth of knowledge and respect from the community serving as the director at BHDDH.”

According to the release, Boss has more than 20 years in the behavioral health and substance abuse disorder field.  She will oversee about 1,350 employees and manage a fiscal year budget of $386 million.
