Report: Biden campaign considering Raimondo as Treasury secretary

PROVIDENCE – Gov. Gina M. Raimondo is being considered by the Biden-Harris campaign’s transition team to serve as secretary of the treasury, should former Vice President Joe Biden win the Nov. 3 presidential election, The American Prospect reported Tuesday.

The report cited multiple sources, however the Biden campaign did not comment on the matter. The transition team was reported to have informed Democratic officials of the consideration of the Rhode Island governor.

The New York Times reported in August that the Biden campaign was in contact with Raimondo, considering her as a potential vice president running mate, but was said to, “not get as far along in the process as others.” The campaign ultimately picked Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif.

The governor’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
