HOBOKEN, N.J. – Fantasy-football players spend hours each week on strategy, which could be costing businesses thousands in lost productivity.

A new report by LendEdu, an online marketplace for student loans, shows the average player spends nearly eight hours per week on fantasy football and about 4.3 hours a week during work. Considering the U.S. median wage, the report calculates that’s $1,186 in lost productivity.

“That is a substantial amount, especially when considering the tens of millions of fantasy football players throughout the nation who work full-time jobs,” according to the report.

The company polled 500 fantasy-football players, and found on average each player spends about $286 on league-entry fees. The average daily player, who might use some of the more popular fantasy leagues hosted by DraftKings and FanDuel, spends $272 on related fees.
