Report: Providence-N.B. metro ranks poorly for concerts per capita

PROVIDENCE – The Providence-New Bedford metropolitan area was ranked No. 12 among the 100 most populous metropolitan areas in the nation for least concerts per 100,000 residents, according to SeatGeek Tuesday.

The data for the study came from event-marketplace vendor SeatGeek, which compiled five years’ worth of concert events listed on its platform between January 2013 and January 2018.

The Waco-Temple-Bryan, Texas, metro area ranked No. 1 for the least concerts per capita in the study with 0.2 concerts per 100,000 residents.

The Las Vegas metro area was reported to have the most concerts per 100,000 residents in the study with 59 concerts. The Boston-Manchester, N.H., metro area ranked No. 12 for most concerts per 100,000 residents in the study with 9.4 concerts.

According to the report, rock music was found to be the most popular genre for concerts among cities involved in the study, followed by country and pop.

The study said there were on average 2.3 rock concerts per 100,000 residents in the 100 most populous metro areas in the U.S.
