PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island’s favorite Halloween candy for 2018 is candy corn, according to a report from CandyStore.com released Thursday.
The report is based on pounds of candy ordered from the bulk-sweet supplier, with candy corn accounting for 17,704 pounds being shipped to the Ocean State in the months leading up to Halloween.
The second-most popular Halloween candy in the Ocean State was Twix, followed by M&Ms.
The most popular Halloween candy in Massachusetts was reported to be Sour Patch Kids, followed by Butterfinger and Double Bubble Gum.
In nearby Connecticut, Almond Joy took the top spot, with Milky Way’s and M&Ms right behind.
Nationwide, Skittles were the No. 1 candy ordered in the months leading up to Halloween, ahead of M&Ms, Snickers and Reese’s Cups.
The report also said that the the National Retail Federation has estimated that shoppers will spend $2.6 billion on Halloween candy, compared with a $2.7 billion estimate for last year’s sweets spending.
