Report: URI’s Dooley earned $369K in 2016-17 academic year

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – University of Rhode Island President David M. Dooley was reported to have made $369,200 in the 2016-2017 school year, according to the most recent data from the Chronicle of Higher Education.

Dooley’s base pay was $350,000, and he received nontaxable pay of $19,200. Listed as  “other benefits” were a pay set aside of $20,000, retirement payments of $31,050, a house benefit and a car benefit.

Dooley ranked No. 165 for highest total executive compensation at private colleges and universities of 251 for which data was included.

In the 2015-16 year, Dooley received payment that totaled $383,000, with a base pay of $340,000.

Dooley was the only public college or university leader in the Providence metropolitan area listed in this year’s report.

James R. Ramsey, president of the University of Louisville, ranked as the highest compensated executive at a public college or university in the nation at $4.29 million, with a base pay of $55,703.

Also listed in the report were the salaries for presidents of other New England public institutions of higher learning. They were (for 2016-17 data):
