Retail outlook positive, Standard & Poor’s says

Just as the holiday shopping season shifts into high gear, analysts say the retail outlook is “positive,” according to a Nov. 23 report by Standard & Poor’s Equity Research.

The report says this year’s shopping season will bring more revenue than first expected, but will not be as strong as in 2004.

Analysts expect retail to grow 3.5 percent to 4.5 percent this year, below the 6.7 percent increase reported by the National Retail Federation for last year’s holiday shopping season.
