Rhode Island International Film Festival set for next week

PROVIDENCE – The nonprofit Flickers’ annual Rhode Island International Film Festival will take place Aug. 7-12.

The festival is comprised of more than 340 short and feature-length films at more than 80 screenings in a variety of forms, including documentary, animation, experimental and narrative films, across a range of genres, according to its schedule.

The festival’s opening night ceremony is to be held at the Providence Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7.

Tickets are available for just the screening of the opening ceremony films or both the screening and the accompanying gala.

Festival screenings will be held at several theaters and locations around the state, including Rhode Island School of Design’s Metcalf Auditorium, the Black Box Theatre, the Vets Cinematheque and the Woodman Center at the Moses Brown School, among others.
