STATE HOUSE – The Rhode Island Caucus of Women Legislators yesterday said it has elected Rep. Joanne M. Giannini, D-Dist. 7, Providence, as its chairwoman.
Also elected last week were Sen. Hanna M. Gallo, D-Dist. 27, Cranston, as first vice chairwoman; Rep. Donna M. Walsh, D-Dist. 36, Charlestown, New Shoreham, South Kingstown and Westerly, as second vice chairwoman; Rep. Amy G. Rice, D-Dist. 72, Portsmouth, Middletown, Newport, as elected communications director; and Rep. Carol Mumford, R-Dist. 41, Scituate and Cranston, as treasurer.
The caucus is a bipartisan group that includes female members of both the Rhode Island House of Representatives and the Senate.
“The Rhode Island Caucus of Women Legislators works in a bipartisan effort on issues that are important to all of Rhode Island,” Giannini said. “We bring a different dimension of ideas and life experience to the General Assembly, and it’s important that we work together to make our voices heard.”
