WARWICK – The Rhode Island Association of Realtors is in the process of raising $15,000 to bring a support-service program to the Ocean State to “help ease the burdens” shared by about 5,000 school-age children of local military families.
The program – Supporting Children of the National Guard and Reserve Institute – is an educator-training program run by the Military Child Education Coalition.
Military children usually move six to nine times during their school years, a transience that can create “anxiety and frustration,” according to the RIAR.
The MEC program would bring the “latest research” and “experience-based” training to the Ocean State. Supporting Children of the National Guard and Reserve Institute has been presented to more than 2,200 teachers in 31 other states, the RIAR said.
The Rhode Island Association of Realtors has nearly f,000 member Realtors, who last year were involved in more than 14,000 transactions totaling $4.34 billion.
