PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Council for the Humanities (RICH) has issued a call for nominations for its 2009 Tom Roberts Prize for Creative Achievement in the Humanities.

The annual program, named for RICH’s founding director, honors an individual or group whose work demonstrates an inventive and innovative approach to traditional fields of study.

This year’s deadline is noon on Monday, April 13. For more information or to make a nomination electronically, go to www.RIHumanities.org.

Nominations will be evaluated by an awards committee composed of RICH board and staff members. A $2,000 prize – made possible through an endowment established in 2001 – will be bestowed this fall during RICH’s annual Celebration of the Humanities.
