RICJ announces 2019 Metcalf Diversity in the Media Awards

PROVIDENCE – The nonprofit Rhode Island for Community & Justice has announced the winners of the 2019 Metcalf Diversity in the Media Awards.

The five awards were given to journalists and individuals that have been determined to have had a positive impact on the community. The awards were judged by an independent panel with backgrounds in journalism, media, communications and community, the organization said.

The awards began in 1988 in memory of Michael Metcalf, the former publisher of The Providence Journal.

This year’s awards will be presented at an awards breakfast on May 22, beginning at 8 a.m. at Hotel Providence.
