PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Department of Transportation has changed the start date of the lane shift related to its Blackstone Street Bridge rehabilitation project, the department announced Friday.
The shift, which will end the lane split on Interstate 95 north and south, will now take place on the weekend of Sept. 14-16.
Both northbound and southbound traffic on I-95 will be shifted left, the department said. The northbound shift is now scheduled for Friday, Sept. 14, into Saturday. The southbound shift is scheduled to take effect Saturday, Sept. 15, and continue into Sunday. All exits and on-ramps will remain open during the work.
The Blackstone Street Bridge project is part of the $20.7 million I-195 Corridor Bridges project.
Blackstone Street between Allens Avenue and Eddy Street will remain closed until late fall, RIDOT said.
