PROVIDENCE – The R.I. State Council on the Arts has awarded $827,782 to 146 recipients in its fiscal year 2020 round of grants to support the arts in Rhode Island, RISCA announced Tuesday.
The grants were awarded to support arts in education, community-based projects by organizations, and to individual fellowships and projects.

State Council on the Arts, in a statement. “Programs in arts education and projects that support the work of artists in communities throughout our state contribute to our great quality of life here in Rhode Island.”
RISCA funds are matched by businesses, individuals and earned income, the council said. The council receives its support through an annual appropriation from the R.I. General Assembly and from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The five largest grants for fiscal 2020 are:
- Trinity Repertory Company – $90,140 for general operating support.
- Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School: $72,640 for general operating support.
- Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design: $68,728 for general operating support.
- AS220: $38,488 for general operating support.
- Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre: $27,500 for general operating support.
