PROVIDENCE – Starting Sept. 12, Rhode Island School of Design Museum in Providence will not charge an admission fee for any youth aged 18 or under, according to a Wednesday release by the institution.

According to the statement, “a modest increase in adult daily admission” – from $12 to $15 – will allow for the new pricing structure and “brings the museum on par with pricing regionally.”

“We are so pleased to offer the youth of our community free access to the RISD Museum collection,” said John W. Smith, director of the RISD Museum, in prepared remarks. “We continue to look for ways to engage the community with art and hope this effort demonstrates our commitment to that end.”

The museum notes all children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
