Rite Aid expands board to 14 directors

CAMP HILL, Pa. – Rite Aid. Corp. (NYSE: RAD), which completed its acquisition of the Brooks Eckerd pharmacies from Jean Coutu Group on June 4, today announced that Michael N. Regan has been elected to the company’s board of directors, expanding the board to fourteen members.
Regan, 59, is the retiring chief financial officer of The St. Joe Co., a Florida-based public company that focuses on real estate development and timberland operations, where he has worked for 10 years. He previously has worked at Harrah’s Entertainment and its former parent companies, Holiday Corp. and The Promus Cos. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a bachelor’s and master’s in sociology from San Diego State University.
Regan’s term as a Rite Aid director will expire in June 2008, at the company’s next annual meeting.
Also today, Rite Aid said it has hired John Coster as vice president, federal affairs and public policy. He will be based inWashington, D.C., reporting to Mark de Bruin, the company’s executive vice president, pharmacy.
Coster, 45, is a health care and government affairs veteran with extensive experience in state and federal health care programs and regulatory issues, most recently as vice president of policy and programs for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. A graduate of St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions in New York, he has master’s and doctoral degrees in health policy from the University of Maryland Graduate School in Baltimore.
